SUPPORTING our Community by donating to our local GOODWILL INN

It is estimated that at any point in time there are 591 homeless individuals in our 5-county area* and many of the homeless are young people between the ages of 14 and 17. Socks are the most requested clothing item in homeless shelters. With this in mind, we continued our commitment to giving back to the communities in which we live and through the purchasing of Christmas gifts to our clients we donated 250 pairs of Bombas socks to GoodWill Northern Michigan. We are so thankful for all the GOOD that Goodwill Northern Michigan does in our community!

The SECURE Act was passed in December 2019 and has wide reaching impacts on retirement savings and estate planning for many! The Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement Act ultimately aims to help individuals save enough for a secure retirement. For our valued clients, there are primarily 2 provisions that will have the most impact:

  1. The increase in the required minimum distribution (RMD) age to 72 from 70 ½ for individuals born on or after July 1, 1949.
  2. Removal of the “stretch” IRA – requiring most non-spousal beneficiaries to distribute their inherited IRA accounts over a 10-year period.

To learn more about these and the other provisions of the SECURE Act  click here . At your next review meeting, we will discuss how this Act impacts you, your portfolio and your beneficiaries.

Do you think their prediction will be accurate?
